The best way to do this is to empower people – confident people are better at getting and keeping work. A range of core services have evolved over the years to support this. Next comes the interview; there are techniques to reduce the nerves and help you to give the employer what they are looking for.
Access to IT
Computers are a central part of modern life. Obviously finding and applying for work but also managing your benefits on line, finding out about services and a range of other stuff–everything in fact!
Not having access to good quality IT can be a severe effect of living on a low income. Signpost equips its centres with good quality IT which is available to visitors.
Skills are often an essential part of overcoming some of the barriers we meet. To this end Signpost delivers a wide range of courses: Customer service, Business Admin, IT, practical skills, interview skills, confidence & self-esteem. These courses are very flexible and adaptable and can be either accredited or non-accredited.
Signpost aims to shape it service around the needs of people. This means that we have to listen to find out what those needs are. This has become a service in itself as having an understanding ear to explore issues with helps people to understand their situation in ways that allow them to move forward.
