Case Studies

M is from Iran, he came to Signpost from the Job Centre. In Iran, he worked as a manager. The main barrier for ‘M’, like most of the people who came to England, is the language.

He attended an English and speaking club (ESOL). We helped him create an account, write his Personal Statement, prepared him for his interview by role-play and gave him tips
for a successful interview. He is a hard worker.

While training and working with ‘M’, we saw how much he tries and works hard on himself. As a result, we helped him find a job as a Healthcare assistant. Also, he raised his level of English and his confidence.

AON is a mature student who is looking for part-time work to fit in with his studies, he has been unemployed for many years and heard about Signpost from a friend. He came to us for help to create a CV for him. We spoke to him during his appointment regarding the ‘Multiply’ PSS session that was taking place the same day. He returned to attend the session and said it was a great help to him as he learnt different ways to budget and helpful ways to make his money stretch further, he is going to recommend this course to friends and family.

J “Volunteering at Signpost Greenstead has removed many of my insecurities. While working at the reception desk I have had to confront my shyness, and when I was told that I was capable and approachable my confidence grew. As time passed I realised that I could interact with people in a work setting and that I was capable of more than the solitary act of writing dissertations. I discovered that I did have skills and the ability to use them in a working environment, and it gave me the confidence to accept the offer of employment as a part-time researcher, work which I find immensely rewarding”
