Signpost actively supports employability and aligns with the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 by fostering economic, social, and community well-being. Through resource centres, job training, and skill development, the charity promotes personal growth, social connections, and economic stability. It also indirectly enhances families’ welfare, strengthens communities, reduces crime, and enriches cultural and social cohesion, reinforcing its person-centred approach to creating positive ripple effects across society.

  • Beating the Odds: A participant secured a warehouse job against 1,000 applicants, thanks to Signpost’s CV and interview coaching.

  • Career Pathways: Another individual began as a school escort for children with learning difficulties and progressed toward becoming a learning support assistant.

  • Reigniting Careers for Over-50s: Tailored support empowered older job seekers to regain confidence, reassess skills, and find fulfilling work.

Social Return On Investment (SROI)

 

Using this framework, Signpost can measure and assign monetary value to the social, environmental, and economic outcomes created by Signpost’s activities.

 

In the financial year 2023/2024, Signpost achieved a combined Evaluative SROI ratio of 11.13:1, which translated, every £1 spent delivering £11.13 of measurable social value. A more in-depth report can be found here.
